This project was very challenging for me. I had to make what is called a "Story Map" on arcgis.com. It was a completely different website making tool that I didn't know how to use. Unlike weebly, it had a completely different format which was quite confusing. As I started to work on it, my site started looking better. The key point of this assignment was to find a ecosystem on the island or in the Hawaiian Islands. I chose to do the Rainforest with my partner Natalya. We were asked to find a problem with the ecosystem; we came across deforestation. Our forests here are thriving and very healthy, but in places like the Amazon forest are in great danger. Due to this many animals are loosing their homes and becoming endangered. Its not just the Amazon, this is happening to rainforests world-wide!! Lets do our part by REUSING & RECYCLING! Just by doing so we can help prevent it. I think the one thing would want to improve for this assignment would be to add more information on deforestation and find organizations that help.
For this project I believe I used the Interpersonal and Global Awareness skills. First I used interpersonal skills by communicating with my partner and researching together on the topic. While looking up specific rainforests in the area and globally, we found that deforestation was more serious than we thought. I used the global awareness skill by finding rainforests from different places like the Amazon. They all had one thing in common and it was that the forests were dying. Deforestation is a serious matter. We all need to realize that we are killing our beautiful planet. We need to fix what we have broken and make a change!
